PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the level of the kneaded product constant in the discharging chute in the downstream of a horizontal drum type kneader. SOLUTION: A paddle type stirring mechanism 25 is arranged inside a drum-shaped casing 20 having a feeding inlet 21 in the upper part of one end and a discharging outlet in the lower part of the other end to compose a horizontal drum type kneader 3. A partition wall 32 having an opening 33 extending upward and downward is arranged in the upstream vicinity of the discharging outlet 22 in the casing 20. A movable gate 34 capable of rise and fall translocation by a rise-and-fall driving mechanism 35 is arranged inside the opening 33. When the level of a kneaded product 10a in the discharging chute 24, detected by a level sensor 36, is lower than a specified level, a controller 37 gives commands to the driving mechanism 35 to make the gate 34 fall so as to increase the amount of the overflowed product 10a.
