PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner in which a filter having a pleats-type filter element is prevented from becoming the hotbed of bad smell and mites. SOLUTION: To a synthetic resin filter frame 46, the pleats-type filter element 47 is attached from which dust is removed by a dust removing tool 19 having movable dust-removers 19d and 19e. The synthetic resin filter frame 46 has: a frame part 51; an air-impervious plate part 52 formed integrally with the inside of the frame part 51; and an opening 54 formed at the air-impervious plate part 52. Each of the opening 54 and the filter element 47 has a shape one size larger than a dust removal area 47e regulated by the rotation locus (movement locus) A and B of the dust removers 19d and 19e of the dust removing tool 19, and the air-impervious plate part 52 is provided by consecutively surrounding the filter element 47. By slipping the dust removed from the filter element 47 by the dust remover down along the surface of the air-impervious plate part 52, the dust is prevented from being accumulated and hardened on the surface of the filter element 47.
