PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the diagnosis of the susceptibility of an individual body to viral infection, especially infection with a virus having a mucin-type glycoprotein represented by Filovirus, and provide a kit for the diagnosis. SOLUTION: The susceptibility of the individual body to the infection with the virus having a mucin-type (O-bonded) sugar chain is diagnosed by detecting the polymorphism of the 35th amino acid of the human macrophage galactose-type C lectin (hMGL), typically the Arg/Cys polymorphism of the amino acid.
