PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device 1 in which a flexible flat cable 40 is prevented from being twisted or disconnected in the middle section, in widely opening an upper frame 3 including a reading mechanism 33. SOLUTION: The image forming device is equipped with a conveying means for feeding and discharging sheets P and a recording section for forming an image on the conveyed sheets P, in a lower frame 2. In the front surface of the lower frame 2, media slots 23 for receiving a storage medium are opened, and a main control substrate 25 including a media controlling circuit is disposed in the lower frame 2 near the media slots 23. The lower frame 2 and the upper frame 3 are axially fitted to each other in a rotatable manner with a one side rotational axis section 4 in parallel with the scanning direction of the reading mechanism 33. The reading mechanism 33 reading a document is so disposed within the upper frame 3 as to be reciprocatingly scanned. The flexible flat cable 40 connecting the reading mechanism 33 to the main control substrate 25 is wired so that its flat surface becomes substantially in parallel with the rotational axis section 4.
