PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed adhesive composition achieving high adhesive strength in a short time, excellent in initial adhesion, and thereby capable of high-speed adhesion. SOLUTION: The high-speed adhesive composition comprises a vinyl acetate resin-based emulsion prepared by the emulsion-polymerization of a vinyl acetate monomer and a glycerine fatty acid ester, with the imidization product of an isobutylene/maleic anhydride copolymer having a neutralityαof 0.2-0.8 serving as a protective colloid. It is preferred that the adhesive composition contains 3-40 parts by mass of an isobutylene/maleic anhydride copolymer imidization product relative to 100 parts by mass of the vinyl acetate monomer.
