PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signature accumulation device capable of securely and smoothly performing an operation for dropping and accumulation signatures onto a accumulation part by alternately changing the direction of the pleats of the signatures for each specified copies on the accumulation part by releasing the signatures holdingly carried by a carrying chain at a specified position on a carrying route. SOLUTION: This signature accumulation device 10 is so formed that the carrying chain 100 holding a signature 6 row is run on the carrying route 31 on a guide member 131, the carrying chain is twisted by 180°around an axis in the running direction (132) between a first signature release part 500 and a second signature release part 600 installed at a position apart a transfer distance from each other in the carrying route, and a runnable direction is reversed by 180°around an axis parallel with the connection pin of the carrying chain. The signature released from the carrying chain at the signature releasing part is carried by conveyor mechanism 700 and 800 corresponding to the signature releasing parts and opposed to each other while their carrying speeds are controlled, and alternately dropped and compiled for each specified copies into the accumulation part 200, with their pleats facing forward, through the signature releasing parts 300 and 400 corresponding to and opposed to each other.
