The armchair has a footrest (8) which is connected to mounting plates (6) on the sides of the seat (2) by a lever system. This consists of short levers (9) pivoted on the plates whose free ends are connected to levers (10) forming part of the footrest mounting. Longer levers (12) are pivoted above the plates and connect with transverse adjusting levers (18) so that the footrest automatically extends when the seat is reclined.
