<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out an airtightness test in a state that a fuel cell system is mounted on a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In a state that output current is zero, an ECU 30 opens a cutoff valve 12 and supplies hydrogen gas from a hydrogen tank 11 to a fuel cell 1. Next, the cutoff valve 12 is closed to form a closed space in lines 19b, 19c, 19d, 19e, 19f including the fuel cell 1 where hydrogen gas inflow is intercepted.
