<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a merchandise-purchasing system using a network that provides the user with a merchandise, without using cash or a card, while facilitating the user's merchandise selection. <P>SOLUTION: Information about the user (telephone number or the like), information on a vending machine to be used, and image information on an article of merchandise to be purchased are sent to a center terminal. The center terminal authenticates the user and analyzes the article from the image data sent, to identify the article purchased by the user.
