<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease entire thickness dimensions of a direct translatory movable body driving equipment that makes a direct translatory move of a movable body, such as a read light source, for scanning a radiation image recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: A linear slide groove 27 is formed longitudinally along a sidewall 20a of an enclosure 20, and the sidewall 20a is made to be a slide wall. The direct translatory movable body driving equipment comprises the slide wall (the sidewall 20a), a linear motor 21 as a driving means, a motor shaft 22 fitted into the linear motor 21, a support member 23 as the movable body supported by the linear motor 21, and a roll section 24 supported by the support member 23.
