<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display with improved image quality, avoiding change of lightness of a lamp generated by change of temperature. <P>SOLUTION: A temperature sensing part 926 outputs a first and a second control signals CS1, CS2 changing its state in accordance with the circumferential temperature of a backlight part. An inverter 920 is composed of an oscillation part 921 generating an oscillation signal, a current control part 922 outputting a signal corresponding to the oscillation signal from the oscillation part and a standard voltage, a switching part 923 outputting a signal with a pulse width corresponding to the signal from the current control part, and a transformer 924 generating a voltage with a pulse width corresponding to the signal from the switching part. The oscillation part 921 controls frequencies of the oscillation signal in accordance with the first control signal impressed from the temperature sensing part 926, and the current control part 922 controls levels of the standard voltage in accordance with the second signal impressed from the temperature sensing part 926.
