PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for removing dregs, which is constituted so that aggregated excrements are crushed without crushing a hair or garbage before filtering by a drum screen is performed. SOLUTION: A whirling current is formed at the cone-shaped bottom (31a) of a casing (31) by agitating the raw water (W) made to flow in the casing (31) by a rotary blade (33). The formed whirling current is made to hit against a stopping plate (32) so that aggregated excrements are crushed by this hitting impact. Meanwhile, the very soft hair and garbage in the raw water (W) are made to pass through the stopping plate (32) without being crushed. The raw water treated thus in the casing is sorted into a filtrate (F) and dregs (S) by the drum screen (2). The dregs (S) are compressed/dehydrated by a dehydrator (6). As a result, the aggregated excrements can be prevented from being captured by the drum screen (2) and the hair and garbage, which are not decomposed in a biological treatment apparatus at the succeeding stage, can be prevented from being crushed, passing through the drum screen (2) and being mixed in the filtrate (F).
