PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a product for application to teeth having excellent adhesiveness to tooth surfaces and preventing leakage of an active ingredient or penetration of saliva, and to provide a method for selecting a gel composition. SOLUTION: The product for application to the teeth comprises a gel composition containing a gelling agent, water or a solvent, an active ingredient such as a prophylactic agent or a remover for stains and an application tool for application to the teeth. Physical properties of the gel composition obtained by using a cone-disk type or a parallel plate type rotational viscometer satisfy conditions (A) and (B). (A) 5-30,000 Pa storage elastic modulus (G') and 30-20,000 Pa loss elastic modulus (G") at 0.1 and 100 rad/s frequency (ω) and (B) 0.1-4 logarithmic area value of a viscoelastic window calculated by the following formula, logarithmic area value=älogG' (ω=100 rad/s)-logG' (ω=0.1 rad/s)}älogG" (ω=100 rad/s)-logG" (ω=0.1 rad/s)}.
