PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing system which can make itself more useful. SOLUTION: This audio system 7 checks the user identification data transmitted together with the compressed music data from a portable reproducing device 3. When it recognizes that the user who purchased/downloaded the compressed music data is the same user who owns the audio system 7, it stores the compressed music data after reproducing the music signals from the compressed music data in the decoder 34 and the music data processing section 35. When it recognizes that the user who purchased/downloaded the compressed music data is not the same user who owns the audio system 7, it erases the compressed music data after reproducing the music signals from the compressed music data in the decoder 34 and the music data processing section 35.
