PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic opening/closing device for a sluice gate, which can automatically open or close a sluice when water quantity in a water way is increased to raise the water level. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the automatic opening/closing device, when the water quantity in the water way of the sluice is increased to raise the water level, a float 2 is raised to rotate a first pinion 4 in mesh with a rack 3 of a float rod 1, and the rotation of the first pinion is transmitted via a transmission shaft 5 to a second pinion 8 to move a lever connection rod 11, to thereby drive a brake lever 2. As a result, engagement between rack rods 23, 24 is released to lower the rack rods 23, 24, which topples a sheathing board 15 connected to a lower edge of the rack rods via wire ropes 16, 17, to thereby open the sluice.
