PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing anα-1,3-glucooligosaccharide composed entirely ofα-1,3-glucoside linkages, as a kind of oligosaccharides with 3-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-D-glucose as the constituent unit and that are being given attention as immunopotentiating substances or QOL(quality of life)-improving agents, to obtain theα-1,3-glucooligosaccharide by this method, and to obtain a preparation composition containing the same. SOLUTION: Theα-1,3-glucooligosaccharide composed entirely ofα-1,3-glucoside linkages each with a polymerization degree of 2-4 is obtained by subjecting a mutanase having hydrolytic activity of endo-type onα-1,3-glucan to hydrolyze mutan to act on the mutan, i.e.α-1,3-glucan as a substrate.
