Electrofusion of cells in a flow system. Electrofusion of cells comprises: (A) directing the cells that are to be fused, in at least two parallel flows in which the cells are arranged one after another and in the same flow direction, to a plane; (B) applying an electrical field to the plane, normal to the flow direction, to form an alignment of cells in the plane; and (C) applying an electrofusion pulse. Where different cells are being fused, the flows of different cells alternate over the width of the plane. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for the process.
