<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength high-thermal conductivity cubic boron nitride sintered compact which is excellent in chipping resistance and crater wear resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The high-strength high-thermal conductivity cubic boron nitride sintered compact is one containing cubic boron nitride (cBN) particles and a binder for bonding the cBN particles. The sintered compact comprises 40-85 vol.% cBN particles and the balance being the binder, wherein the binder comprises at least one chosen from a nitride, carbide, boride and oxide of a group 4a, 5a or 6a element and solid solutions thereof, an aluminum compound and unavoidable impurities. The cBN particle in the sintered compact contains ≤0.03 mass% Mg and 0.001-0.05 mass% Li. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
