PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal pressure defect detecting method and its device for a case internal container, which can detect an internal pressure defect of a container after a content liquid has been filled by hot pack filling or retort processing, and the container has been housed in a case, from the outside of the case. SOLUTION: The X ray is projected to a liquid surface in a PET bottle through the case 1 from the outside of the case 1, and an unacceptable internal pressure is detected by the reduction of the liquid surface by acquiring liquid surface information by the transmittance rate. Thus, the unacceptable internal pressure can be detected by the reduction of the liquid surface even in a case of a plastic container such as the PET bottle 2 for which the hot pack filling or the retort processing has been performed, and the internal pressure defect can be detected from the outside of the case even for a container for which the tapping inspection cannot be applied such as a plastic container.
