PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optically active N-protected-2-aminoalcohol compound of formula (2) having a good optical purity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the optically active N-protected-2-aminoalcohol compound of formula (2) (R<SP>1</SP>is a 1 to 4C alkyl; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each independently an amino-protecting group, or one of R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>is H and the other is an amino-protecting group, or R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are bound to each other to form a ring together with the nitrogen atom of the amino group; a carbon atom having a mark * is an asymmetric carbon atom; R<SP>2</SP>is an alkyl or an aryl).
