USE OF ANTI-PARAFIBROMIN ANTIBODIES TO DIAGNOSE HYPERPARATHYROIDISM-JAW TUMOR SYNDROME (HPT-JT) AND PARATHYROID CANCER

Methods of diagnosing cancer or a susceptibility to cancer in an animal comprising: (a) contacting a cell from the animal, or a lysate of the cell, with an antibody that specifically binds to parafibromin, or an antigenically reactive fragment of the antibody; (b) determining if a protein is bound by the antibody, or the fragment of the antibody, in step (a); and if protein is bound by the antibody, or the fragment of the antibody: (i) determining whether the size of the protein bound by the antibody, or the fragment of the antibody, in step (a) is smaller than the size of wild-type parafibromin; and/or (ii) sequencing the protein bound by the antibody, or the fragment of the antibody, in step (a).
