PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a urethane sponge roll constituted so as to expand only the cells in a roll to allow them to communicate with each other with avoiding an effect on the cell shape in the vicinity of the surface of the roll as much as possible and enhanced in function as a roll, and to provide an advantageous manufacturing method of the urethane sponge roll. SOLUTION: When a mold having a molding cavity for imparting a roll shape is used to subject a urethane foamable raw material to foam molding in a state that a longitudinal rod-shaped shaft body becoming a roll shaft is concentrically arranged in a molding cavity to manufacture the urethane sponge roll wherein an open cell type urethane sponge layer is formed around the shaft body in a predetermined thickness. In this manufacturing method, the cell diameter in the vicinity of the shaft body of the urethane sponge layer is made larger than that in the vicinity of the surface layer becoming a mold side by raising the temperature of the shaft body as compared with the temperature of the mold to perform foam molding.
