PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable communication terminal that can easily report the reception of mails yet to be received. SOLUTION: A control part of a cellular phone 100 which is one embodiment of the portable communication terminal implements an alert method by which the reception of mails yet to be received is reported to the user. The method includes a step (S302) for receiving all the mails; a step (S304) for storing the received mails in a RAM; a step (S310) for providing an alert once if the setting of a mail alert is on (S306:YES) and if only one mail is received (S308:YES); and a step (S320) for providing the alert twice if two or more mails are received (S306:NO).
