PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform parallel processing on a part of temporary labeling processing in image processing by an SIMD-type microprocessor for reduction in time for efficiently carrying out labeling processing, even for binary image data of a complex pattern. SOLUTION: This image processing device is provided with the SIMD type microprocessor having a global processor and a plurality of processor elements. In the image processing device, a data controller, connected to a data transfer port for access to a general purpose register built in each processor element from the outside, is provided, and in labeling processing on the binary image data, determination deciding whether pixels adjacent in the auxiliary scan direction are connected and temporary labeling is carried out by simultaneous processing in the respective processor elements; while determination deciding whether pixels adjacent in the main scan direction are connected and temporary labeling is carried out by serial processing in the data controller.
