PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which can be used held even by hand, in order to project and to display images freely, in the desired direction. SOLUTION: This projector has an image forming section to form an image to be projected, and a projection optical system to project and display the image on a projection plane. Further, the projector has a joggle sensor for detecting the shaking of the projector, and a stabilizer section for reducing the amount of movement on the projection plane caused by the shaking projector, based on the output signals of the joggle sensor.
