PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ring groove for a two-piece oil ring that can suppress the amount of oil loss from the ring groove to reduce the oil consumption of an engine. SOLUTION: This ring groove 11 is provided with upper and lower faces 13, 14 orthogonal to the axial direction of a piston 20; a bottom face 12 connecting the upper and lower faces, and an oil spill port 18 having an opening 19 in the bottom face. When the oil ring 2 is mounted in the ring groove 11 so that the outer peripheral end abuts on the inner peripheral surface of a cylinder 7, the bottom face 12 is formed into a recessed face with the upper and lower ends 15, 16 located in radial positions drawn inward by a predetermined distance from the upper and lower face inner ends of an oil ring body 5, preferably by 1/100 to 1/300 of the inner diameter of the cylinder, and with a generating line 17 surrounding a coil expander 6 projected from the back face of a body, away from the coil expander 6 by a predetermined distance, preferably 1/100 to 1/300 of the inner diameter of the cylinder 7.
