PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hat giving fitting feeling and soft feeling to a wearing person, resistant to the fraying of the sewn part and the collapse of the shape by washing, wearable over many years and having excellent sanitariness and durability. SOLUTION: A braid web 1 composed of a single cloth having a prescribed width is spirally wound on a plane and sewn with upper and lower sewing threads 3 placed on the front face and the back face of the braid web 1, a crown part C and a brim L are integrally sewn to the body and a flexible core material 2 is sealed in the circumferential edge of the brim L to form a braid hat. The hat is produced by slitting a cloth in a web form having a prescribed width to form a long continuous braid web 1, spirally winding the braid web 1 on a plane superposing its one side edge with the other side edge while sewing the braid web 1 with upper and lower sewing threads 3 placed above and below the braid web 1, integrally sewing a crown part C and a brim L to the spiral body, and washing and drying the product after the integral sewing of the crown part C and the brim L.
