PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide newsprint paper without causing color drifts by printing with an ultrahigh-speed offset rotary press. SOLUTION: The newsprint paper for offset printing is provided with a coating layer consisting essentially of a pigment and an adhesive on at least one surface of base paper. The maximum signal intensity is between 0.1-1.0 s by measurement with an EST12 tester for surface sizing degree. The amount added and ratio of an internal sizing agent added for regulating the Cobb sizing degree in a step ranging from mixing of raw material pulp to raw material feed to a paper machine and an external sizing agent added for regulating the Cobb sizing degree with a gate roll for coating paper with starch are regulated so as to provide (2:8) to (6:4).
