<p>Compounds of the formula <FORM:1101710/C2/1> and their acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts, where R is H or CH3, R1 is H, CH3 or C2H5, A is a straight or branched C2- 5-alkylene chain, Y is H or halogen or a C1- 4-alkyl or -alkoxy group and Z is NH2, NH-alkyl or N(alkyl)2 where the alkyl group contains 1-4 C, are prepared either by trans-esterification of a compound <FORM:1101710/C2/2> where R2 is a C1- 4 alkyl group, with an amino-alcohol of the formula HO-A-Z the amino group in Z being protected when necessary and the protecting group being subsequently removed, or by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1101710/C2/3> where X is a halogen atom, with an amino-alcohol HO-A-Z with the amino group Z being optionally protected and liberated subsequently. Pharmaceutical compositions having anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and spasmolytic activity comprise the compounds of the invention and an inert carrier. The compositions may be in a form suitable for enteral, parenteral or topical administration.</p> |
