<p>The invention relates to an absorbent article (1; 1') such as a diaper, an incontinence shield, a sanitary towel or the like, comprising an upper, liquid-permeable cover sheet (2), a lower, liquid-impermeable cover sheet (3), and an absorption body (22) arranged between the cover sheets (2, 3), said article (1; 1') defining a longitudinal direction, a front portion (5) in the longitudinal direction, and a rear portion (6) in the longitudinal direction. The invention is characterized in that the upper cover sheet (2), together with an underlying wadding material (4), defines a laminate which, at least in said rear portion (6), is designed with at least one through-slit (21; 21') which defines a corresponding opening for passage of bodily excretions through said slit (21; 21'), and in that said slit (21; 21') is surrounded by binding areas (24) which, together with a resilient action of the wadding material (4), define a raised area (23; 23') on the surface of said article (1;1'). The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing such an absorbent article. By means of the invention, an absorbent article is obtained in which, in particular, excrement is transferred into the absorption body through said slits and is bound in the underlying wadding material. This prevents leakage of the excrement. A higher degree of comfort of the user is also achieved.</p> |
