<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system with improved user-friendliness by allowing a user to perform remote controlling of any electronic device in any place without locational restriction. <P>SOLUTION: A control signal sent from a remote controller 4 is converted to an electric signal by an infrared radiation receiving unit 11 of a NIAP 5 receiving light through infrared radiation. The sampling of a wave pattern of the electric signal is performed by an IR control unit 13. Sampling data is converted to a transmission signal format for a wired LAN by a network communication control unit 14, and then transmission data is sent through the wired LAN to another NIAP connectable to the electronic device to be controlled.
