PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which stably reduces the deterioration of image quality caused by a dust adhering to an optical element. SOLUTION: A CPU 41 computes the size of dust adhering to a low-pass filter 23 from information on the comparison images of the low-pass filter 23 vibrated by a low-pass filter drive unit 88 at a plurality of locations. On the basis of the size, the amplitude of the vibration is determined. In addition, since the period of vibration is determined from the shutter speed input previously, the most effective amplitude and period are set, regardless of the size of the dust, the local deterioration of image quality due to the dust is reduced, and comprehensive image quality is improved.
