PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a presence/absence determination device and a presence/absence determination method that is capable of assuredly determining when a user leaves his bed. SOLUTION: This presence/absence determination device is an absence-from-bed determination device 1 that has an air mattress 11 placed under the body of a user 10, which detects vibrations including living body vibrations generated caused by living body motions of the user 10 by detecting the movement of a fluid and outputs a detection signal; and a controller 12 generating a presence/absence signal indicating the user 10's presence on/absence from the bed based on the detection signal output by the air mattress 11.
