PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device for a sluice enabling the easy inspections and repair of a stored chain and a reduction in the volume of the entire device by efficiently storing the chain. SOLUTION: A pair of L-shaped hooking members 18 as a chain storage part 15 are fitted to near a driven part 6 forming a drive device 4. On the other hand, since a plurality of hooking pins 25 hooked to the pair of L-shaped hooking members 18 are fitted to the chain 3 at the specified longitudinal positions, after being wrapped around a drive sprocket 14, the chain 3 is guided by the chain storage part 15 along a guide 22, the hooking pins of the chain 3 are hooked to the chain storage part 15 in order, and the chain 3 between the hooking pins 25 is suspended in a roughly U-shape and stored. Accordingly, the chain can be easily inspected and repaired, a storage space for the chain 3 must not be formed on the underside of the drive sprocket 14, and the entire device can be reduced in size.
