PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the capacity of a space in which a torque transmitting coupling is arranged. SOLUTION: The structure of a carrier case 10 comprises a differential gear 9 and a carrier cover 7 mounted on the differential carrier 9 via abutting flanges 83, 91 and fastening protruded portions 87, 95. A rear differential device 3 is stored and supported in the differential carrier 9, and the torque transmitting coupling 1 is stored and supported in the carrier cover 7 and a drive pinion shaft 17 is rotatably supported therein for transmitting torque between the rear differential device 3 and the torque transmitting coupling 1. A partition wall 75 is provided between the differential carrier 9 and the carrier cover 7, a bearing housing 77 is provided on the partition wall 75 for rotatably supporting the drive pinion shaft 17, and an internal space 78 open into the carrier cover 7 is provided in the outer periphery of the bearing housing 77 with its inner and outer peripheries formed into closed sections.
