The axe has a gripping shaft (11) with a hollow tube including a pickaxe (14) at its upper end (12) and a stop (15) at its lower end (16), where the stop is mounted at a tip (17) of the shaft. The stop has a square plate with a bolt which is axially screwed in the shaft in a retracted position and which projects across a notch along a direction perpendicular to an axle of the shaft, in a working position, to constitute a locking unit.
