A method for determining a coherent noise filter for seismic signals includes an iterative process in which a filter obtained from the previous iteration is transformed into a transform domain (eg wavenumber, frequency-wavenumber domain), constrained to a predetermined tolerance in the transform domain, inverse transformed with the applied constraints into a sample domain (eg spatial, temporal-spatial domain), and constrained to a predetermined response outside a finite region in the sample domain. The filter is thus obtained by the method of alternating projections onto convex sets (APOCS). The filter is a 2D or 3D zero-phase finite impulse response filter (FIR) and may be used with seismic data recorded at a staggered layout of receivers, particularly from a single sensor survey. |
