The invention concerns a terminal (4, 5) for communicating via a telecommunication network (1) and a method for such communication. The terminal (4, 5) comprises a loudspeaker (46, 56), a microphone (45, 55), a transceiver unit (41, 51) for sending and receiving data via the telecommunication network (1) and a coding/decoding unit (42, 52) for coding/decoding speech data exchanged via the telecommunication network (1). A parametrizable control unit (47, 57) uses a user specific output parameter set (49, 59) for adapting the acoustic speech signal (22, 32) outputted by the loudspeaker (46, 56) to the individual hearing characteristic of the user (2, 3) of the terminal. <IMAGE>
