Relates to sliding clasp fasteners of the type comprising a pair of engaging elements each made from a continuous filament and consisting of U-shaped members A, A<SP>1</SP> each joined at the end of one of its two branches to an adjacent member, the ends of all branches of each element pointing in a common general direction. According to the invention, each element is associated with a tape having a bifurcated longitudinal edge forming superposed front and rear portions 2, 3 of the tape along such edge, the U-shaped members of such element being alternatively on one and on the other side of the front portion 2 of the associated tape and the ends of the ends of two branches of each member projecting beyond the edge of the front portion so as to be capable of engagement with members of the other element, the rear portion 3 of the tape covering at least partly the members which are on the side of the front portion towards the rear portion, and a narrow tape 5 covering at least partly the members which are on the side of the front portion away from the rear portion, and a slider member 6 which is capable of causing the members of one engaging element to engage or disengage those of the other element.
