摘要 898,537. Lathe drivers and centres. ULRICH, G. June 25, 1959 [July 25, 1958], No. 21883/59. Class 83 (3). A lathe or like driver comprises an axially slidable centre in a body portion and two or more angularly spaced parallel driving pins, slidable in holes in the body portion and urged outwardly to engage the irregular end of a workpiece. The body 11, Fig. 3, of the driver may be tapered to fit a lathe or like spindle or may be cylindrical for gripping in a chunk a chuck or other holding device. A spring- pressed centring member 6 extends from the central bore in the body and is surrounded by a number of equally spaced axially sliding driving pins 3, Fig. 4. The outer ends of these pins are provided with driving teeth 13 for engaging the work M, the inner ends are formed with inclined V-grooves. The latter are engaged by balls 5 retained by a floating ring 4 which allows the pins to extend by different amounts when the face of the work is inclined or uneven. The inner ends of the pins may be inclined in the opposite direction with the floating ring arranged inside the ring of balls.
