FIELD: nuclear power engineering; fuel elements for nuclear reactors. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed fuel element has pelletized nuclear fuel placed in can in a spaced relation, its coefficient of linear thermal expansion being higher than that of can; cylindrical pellets are assembled in pellet stack through height of fuel element which is held in position by means of spring lock. The latter is made of material characterized in high relaxation ability under thermomechanical loads which it suffers at working temperature of fuel element within reactor; relaxation rate of hold-down force is minimum 0.002 of fuel element mass per hour; maximal hold-down force applied by lock to pellet stack during initial moment of operation does not exceed three masses of pellet stack. ^ EFFECT: enhanced operating reliability and reduced manufacturing cost of fuel element. ^ 1 cl, 1 dwg |
