PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position sensor capable of stably measuring the angle position of a magnet over a long time, using a magnetic sensor and the magnet. SOLUTION: The magnetic position sensor comprises a stator 16, 36, or 52 formed of a magnetic material, and pairs of magnets 14a and 14b, 34a and 34b, 54a and 54b, or 64a and 64b rotatably mounted about the stator so as to be movable between both angle ends, and spaced by a primary cylindrical air gap 5. A second air gap 4 is formed within a stationary member, a first Hall effect sensor 18 is arranged within the second air gap, to measure the magnetic field as angle position display of the magnets, and a second reference sensor 22 detects a magnetic decay of the magnets. The second sensor is a Hall effect sensor arranged in a position where the magnetic field is relatively constant, regardless of the angle positions of the magnets, and the output of the reference sensor is usable as a diagnostic indicator or for correction of the output of the first sensor.
