PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thumb-turn device which dispenses with a key, and is resistant to unlocking even if part of a door or the like is broken from the outside. SOLUTION: The thumb-turn device is locked/unlocked by protruding/retracting a dead bolt from/into an end face of the door body in interlock with rotation of a thumb-turn shaft 12. The thumb-turn device is formed of a first lug member 21 which is coaxially rotatably supported by the thumb-turn shaft 12; a second lug member 22 which is arranged axially adjacently to the first lug member 21 and coaxially rotatably supported by the thumb-turn shaft 12 in a manner being inhibited from axially moving; an engaging/disengaging mechanism K which is engageable with/disengageable from the thumb-turn shaft 12 when the first lug member 21 is axially moved at a predetermined relative rotational angle with respect to the thumb-turn shaft 12; and a cam mechanism C which is axially movable only when the first lug member 21 is arranged at a predetermined relative rotational angle with respect to the second lug member 22.
