PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for efficiently synthesizing a 3,4-dioxythiophene derivative useful for various use. SOLUTION: The 3,4-dioxythiophene derivative represented by formula (I):[wherein, A, B, C and D are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of a single bond, alkylene, substituted alkylene, cycloalkylene, substituted cycloalkylene, arylene, substituted arylene and (-O-(CR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>)<SB>m</SB>)<SB>x</SB>: (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, an alkyl and substituted alkyl; m is an integer of 1 to 10; and x is an integer of 1 to 10); and at least one of the units A, B, C and D is not the single bond] and the producing method thereof are provided.
