PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform bending as far as the bending is performable with a special-purpose bending machine for bending a product, in a process for bending products having similar shapes. SOLUTION: A control system 1 for a bending machine refers to product-shape information obtained, generates automatic operation data 17a for controlling the bending action of a bending machine 23 so that a product is formed into a desired shape, and controls the bending machine 23. The system is provided with a means 15 for detecting a case that the automatic operation data 17a for forming a product into a desired shape are not generated, and a means 13 for determining a range where the bending of products is performable and for generating automatic operation data 17b of semi-products for performing the bending within the performable range. Thereby, the bending machine 23 is controlled so that the product is bent to the range where the bending is performable, based on the automatic operation data 17b of the semi-products.
