<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To localize a sound image in stereophonic reproduction with two speakers placed close to each other even if the case of a portable telephone has asymmetrical shape. <P>SOLUTION: A ROM11 stores the melody data of incoming melody outputted as a ringtone. A CPU12 variously controls a portable telephone. A sound source 13 emits melody signal. An operation unit 14 outputs the operation information inputted by a user. An open/close detector 15 detects whether a collapsible portable telephone is opened or closed. A signal processor 16 processes the signal outputted from the sound source 13. A D/A converter 17 converts the data having been subjected to signal process into analogue data. A speaker amplifier 18 raises/lowers the level of melody signal.
