<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light deflecting plate which can control the emitting direction of light from a surface of a light guide plate in the optimum because the light emitted from the surface of the light guide plate in a conventional prism sheet can not be deflected in a desired direction, namely, in the perpendicular direction against the surface of light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: This light deflecting plate 27 which is used under piling up with the surface part 15 of the light guide plate having the surface part 15, the backside part positioned on that opposite side, and an incident end face part which is positioned on one end side of the surface part 15 and the backside part and which is in order to be connected to the surface part 15 and the backside part and to introduce the light from light source has a plane part 26 along the surface part 15, and triangle columnar prism faces 28, 29 which extend to the direction in parallel with the incident end face and which are placed in a row in the direction orthogonal to the incident end face. The prism faces 28, 29 alternatively have a first slope 28 in which a spacing to a plane part 26 becomes wider at the incident end face side and a second slope 29 following the first slope 28.
