PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load and the time of a user required for updation, by eliminating the labor required for updating of map information. SOLUTION: This device has a display means for reading out the map information from a storage device (HDD) 16 or a disk device 17 storing the map information, and displaying it on an output device (monitor) 14, and an external communication device 15 for receiving updated map information to the map information stored in a recording medium, based on a signal always emitted from an information providing device which is a device installed near an organized road or a landmark, for emitting for example, beacon information.
