PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation for external use having a gel structure excellent in salt resistance. SOLUTION: This gel-like skin care preparation contains (1) alginic acid and/or its salt and (2) a starch-grafted acrylic acid and/or its salt. Calcium alginate is preferable as the alginic acid salt. Preferably, the preparation further contains a carboxyvinyl polymer and/or its salt. A preferable example of application of such a gel-like cosmetic is a cleansing gel cosmetic.
