PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly detect jammed paper irrespective of the transverse width of a recording sheet while preventing cost increase. SOLUTION: A dot-impact printer 10, which is a recording device equipped with a recording head 20 performing the record on the sheet of the recording sheet, is equipped with a platen 23 conveying the recording sheet, a sheet conveying motor 35 driving the platen 23, a rotation detecting sensor 60 performing the detection of the rotating state of the platen 23 and a controller 70 performing the discrimination of the paper-jamming generation based on the detected result of the rotation detecting sensor 60 at conveying the recording paper.
